I loved the cozy dorm experience with privacy curtains that made it feel more intimate and personal.
The shared bathroom facilities can become congested, especially during peak hours, making timing tricky for showers.

Not perfect, but worth it
Charming traditional Japanese aesthetics, convenient location 10 minutes from onsen! Clean dorm with privacy curtains, accommodating host who provides valuable local tips and free spices in the kitchen.
Limited bathroom facilities for multiple guests, though beds offered a cozy experience but shared space can be tricky depending on company.

The dorm was cozy with privacy curtains. Limited shower facilities made timing tricky sometimes.

Kusatsu Kotodama offered a really unique experience with its charming traditional aesthetics. The dorm had privacy curtains that made a cozy atmosphere. The location is fantastic, just a short 5-10 minute walk from the bus terminal and the onsen. I appreciated the helpfulness of the owner who provided valuable local tips and free coffee in the mornings. However, the limited shower facilities made timing tricky sometimes, especially during peak hours. The shared bathroom could feel crowded with multiple guests. A proper lounge area would enhance the community vibe, as the current seating arrangements didn’t encourage hanging out. Overall, it's a charming spot for budget travelers, but some improvements could elevate the experience further.

clean shared bathroom, functional kitchenette, traditional tatami room experience
Communication issues due to limited English details!!! Better signage for check-in times required!!! A more comfortable communal area with proper seating would enhance the experience!!! On top of that, having fewer capsules in the dorm would improve space significantly!!!

Had a wonderful experience at Kusatsu Kotodama! The owner was super generous, giving me a ride to Yubatake after check-in. The location is fantastic, just a short walk from the bus terminal and tourist spots. I loved the cozy dorm, which had privacy for each bed. Plus, the kitchen was functional and I enjoyed free coffee every morning!
Limited shower room and bathroom.

Just a well-suited match for a quick break in Kusatsu with excellent value for money. It was nice to have dividers in the dorm for a bit of privacy. Consider bringing your own towel to save on costs.
